Your Message Matters: Building Revenue and Making a Difference
In the world of business, your message is your most valuable asset.
Authors, speakers, and owners...listen up...this is for YOU.
Your message has the potential to transform your life, impact others, and drive revenue for your business.
Stop making excuses. Stop hiding behind your fear.
You have a message that the world needs to hear.
And if you have solutions to painful problems, you MUST speak up and share.
Even if it feels uncomfortable. You have a responsibility to share and help.
Let’s explore some strategies for fine-tuning your message. Let’s review techniques and tools to get it into the world.
Mostly importantly, let’s talk about the critical importance of monetizing your message and business to create a positive, lasting impact.
Fine-Tune Your Message
Before you can make a significant impact or generate revenue, it's crucial to fine-tune your message.
Here's how:
- Clarify your purpose - Start by defining your core values, mission, and the change you want to bring to the world. A clear sense of purpose will give your message depth and authenticity.
- Understand your audience - Identify your target audience's pain points, desires, and preferences. Tailor your message to their needs to make it more relatable and persuasive.
- Craft a compelling story - Weave your message into a compelling narrative that resonates with your audience emotionally. Stories are more memorable and engaging than raw data.
Stories stick. People will remember how you made them feel. And the story you shared.
For example: I went on a backpacking trip in the woods all alone. I was in the midst of a divorce. I needed space to dig into some deep self reflection.
On my journey, I ran into a bear. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This mamma bear immediately began charging towards me.
As my life flashed before me, I remember feeling peace. I also remember thinking “I’m not ready to die!”.
I was terrified. My body trembled. But I wasn’t ready to be done with this life.
So I took a step forward. I roared back. I stood my ground. And it worked!
This experience was the onus for my creating my FEAR method.
It’s the story I’m hired to share at conferences and on podcasts. It’s helped so many business owners and speakers face their fears head on.
Stories stick...make time to fine tune your message and your story.
Techniques and Tools to 10x Your Message
Getting your message out into the world requires effective techniques and tools:
- Content Marketing - Create valuable content through blog posts, videos, podcasts, or social media. Consistent, high-quality content builds your authority and reaches a wider audience. Better yet, put it into videos. Have long and short form videos to share. So much is lost in text alone. Videos allow people to connect with you in a very real way.
- Leverage Social Media - Utilize platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook to connect with your target audience. Engage in conversations and share your expertise. Message folks back. Like their content. Build a relationship and community on your platform(s) of choice.
- Email Marketing - Build an email list and nurture your subscribers with valuable insights. Email is a powerful way to maintain a direct connection with your audience. Don’t make the mistake of spamming your list with sale after sale. Connect with them. Nurture your list. Share personal stories. Build intimacy.
- Collaborations and Partnerships - Collaborate with other influencers, authors, or business owners in your industry. Joint ventures can expand your reach significantly.
Monetizing Your Message and Business for Greater Giving
While your mission might be altruistic, monetizing your message and business is essential for achieving your giving goals:
- Diversify Revenue Streams - Beyond your core offering (books, speaking engagements, products, or services), consider diversifying your revenue streams. This can include online courses, consulting, or merchandise related to your message.
- Pricing Strategy - Determine the right pricing for your offerings. Don't undervalue your expertise, but ensure that your message remains accessible to those who need it.
- Invest in Marketing - Allocate a portion of your revenue to marketing efforts. Effective marketing will help you reach a broader audience and generate more income.
- Give Back The ultimate goal is to give back and make a difference. Once your message and business are generating revenue, allocate a portion to charitable causes or initiatives that align with your mission.
