Overcome Procrastination and Challenges in Your Next Big Project
Hey there, fellow freedom-seeker and world-changer!
So, you’ve got this brilliant idea brewing in your mind, an initiative that could make a significant impact on your business and community. But, ah, here comes the sneaky duo: challenges and procrastination, ready to rain on your parade.
Fear not!
I’m here to guide you through the storm with three trusty steps that will have you sailing smoothly towards success.
Step 1: Recruit Your Dream Teammate
Picture this: You’re a lone pirate sailing the vast sea of possibilities. You’ve got a treasure map, but navigating through the unknown waters alone? Yikes!
That’s where hiring a trusty first mate comes in. Think of them as your "who" with the skills to turn your vision into reality. Finding the right talent, whether it be for a project manager, graphic designer, or digital marketer, is like discovering your long-lost parrot friend. They’ll have your back through thick and thin, guiding you past treacherous obstacles and towards the X that marks the spot of success.
Anytime you feel procrastination, overwhelm or dread, it usually means it’s time to hire a “who” to help you. Because it means you don’t have the skills, desire, or passion…..but you still want to make it happen. Get out of your own way and hire someone whose passion IS the thing you dread!
They’ll LOVE it and it will keep you in your zone of genius…with impact and joy!
Step 2: Craft Your Impact Filter
Now, matey, before you go off recruiting just any ol’ sailor, it’s time to hoist your impact filter high into the sky. What’s an impact filter, you ask?
It’s your mission and vision condensed into a powerful tool for selecting the perfect crew member. You want someone who not only shares your goals but also embodies them in their very core.
If your mission is to spread joy and positivity, you don’t want a crew member who’s a Debbie Downer, right? By clearly connecting your purpose to your hiring process, you’ll ensure that every member of your crew is rowing in the same direction towards a brighter horizon.
Beyond this connection, your impact filter clearly outlines the following:
- Project: what it is
- Purpose: connecting it with your mission/vision
- Importance: why it’s important to your business
- Ideal Outcome: a detailed picture of what success looks like
- Best Result: stretch goals, should energize and excite them
- Worst Result: negative impact, paint a clear, vivid picture
- Success Criteria: KPIs, metrics, and details
I want to go into more detail on a few of these items in step 3 because they bear repeating...they are that essential. You need to paint and map out the clearest of pictures in order for this person to succeed.
Step 3: Map Out Your Journey
Arr, matey, it’s time to chart the course!
- What does success look like for your project?
- Are you aiming to increase revenue by 50%?
- Reach a million subscribers?
- Impact a thousand lives?
Whatever your treasure may be, mark it with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
And don’t forget about the flip side of the coin: failure.
Picture your ship sinking, your crew abandoning ship, and your treasure slipping away into the depths. By acknowledging the risks and consequences of failure, you’ll be better prepared to steer clear of danger and stay the course towards success.
Your Roadmap to Ultimate Success
