5 Effective Strategies to Stop Being the Best Kept Secret in Your Industry
It’s hard to get leads and sales when no one knows about you. If you aren’t effectively sharing and marketing the problem you solve, no one knows you exist.
The biggest challenge I hear time and time again for business owners is getting leads and sales.
They need more calls, more sales, more revenue.
And yet, when we dig into the problem...we quickly discover that they have built something and expected people to simply show up and buy it.
I hate to break it to you…it doesn’t work this way.
Regardless of what you are selling.
Whether it’s a book, a course, a program or a product, you have to invest time and resources into marketing it.
Having a solid marketing strategy is essential.
Below are some strategies that will help you share your message with the world.
And remember you don’t need to appeal to everyone.
You only need 100 raving fans to build an empire with your ideal clients.
#1 Dial In Your Message
Regardless of how you are marketing your business, movement or nonprofit, we need to start with the basics. And that means we need to dial in your message.
What problem are you solving?
Who do you help and how?
What stories can you share that will resonate with potential ideal clients?
Practice the art of storytelling. Get really good at it.
Marketing effectively requires that you become an expert at storytelling. People remember and relate to stories.
And if you’re unsure of which stories will resonate most, experiment with it as a podcast guest. Hop on a podcast show and pay attention to when your host leans in or asks more after you share a story.
Start sharing your story with family, friends and when you’re networking. Pay attention to which stories land.
Still unclear?
Let’s hop on a call as I help business owners master the art and science of success…and guess what? It starts with dialing in your message.
#2 Get Out of Your Own Way
Stop making excuses for why your business is failing. Stop pointing fingers. Stop blaming the medium.
If you need to share your message at a conference, do it. If you need a presence on social media, do it.
If you have a problem you can solve, you have a responsibility and duty to share it with the world. Even if it feels uncomfortable. Even if it’s scary. Even if you feel a ton of resistance.
Step up. Do it. Make it happen.
As Stephen King in his book On Writing would say, if you want to write a book, commit to writing. Becoming a writer simply requires you make time to write. It’s really that simple.
It all starts with small baby steps. And as you continue to build on it you create momentum.
You can do this but you must get out of your own way. Push past your fears. Get straight into action.
You’ve got this!
#3 Share Your Message
Once you have your message dialed in and you’re committed to taking action, it’s time to share it with the world.
Write it down. Writing provides tremendous clarity. It allows you creative space to add more tools to your toolkit. This helps you uplevel your game and help your clients even more.
Share your stories in a book, in blog posts, in articles, and on social media. Once you have your message and effective stories dialed in, it’s time to share it.
When you invest time and energy into creation, it’s essential you share it, reuse it and repurpose it on multiple platforms.
Don’t waste your time and energy. Make sure you squeeze every bit of juice from your hard work.
#4 Publish it!
Less than 1% of people in the world will actually follow through and publish a book.
On average, self publishers will sell five copies of their book. And if you’re lucky you might even sell 200 copies of your book a year.
But this won’t pay the bills...
But you can beat the odds by having a strategy.
And that strategy begins with redefining success for your book launch.
It’s about so much more than just the book sales. Very few people become rich from book sales alone.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s unlikely you will get rich off of book sales alone.
Success from publishing your book means:
- Landing more speaking gigs in front of your ideal clients
- Gaining a new client for a project or service
- Connecting with your ideal clients through the book and selling them a low cost offer to companion with their reading journey
- Building your email list and converting leads to clients
- Becoming a best seller to elevate your social credibility
- Having a strategy to get your book into the hands of ideal clients
And in writing your book, I guarantee you will come up with new resources, tools, and lead magnets for your existing and future clients. You will create new lead magnets that you can use in your book and online.
You may even walk away with a HUGE new idea that will take off like wildfire!
#5 Join a Mastermind
If you want to magnetize your message and maximize your efforts, you should join the mastermind.
In it you will:
- Learn how to use your book as a lead magnet
- Have a solid, tested pre launch book marketing strategy that will land you best selling status
