3 Secrets to Raving Business Success
"Holly, how do I find more clients? What do I do next in my business that will produce results?"
This is the question I am getting a lot recently from clients and our mastermind.
The answer is simple. But it’s not easy to implement.
It’s time to get back to the basics. Here are my three ninja tips to raving success in your business today...
1. Define Your Ideal Client
I know it sounds like repetition. But most people can’t answer this question. Who is your ideal client? What do you do for them? What problem do you solve? How will I know I have come across an ideal client I can refer to you? What key phrases are they saying to express their pain?
If you can't answer these questions, start here. Because nothing works until you know who you are marketing to. What you are selling. The problem you are solving. And why it’s important to them.
Everything comes back to this core foundational item. And your ideal client changes a little over time so it’s important to revisit.
You may even have more than one avatar. You might have one avatar for corporate companies. And one for individual coaching clients. Define in detail each of these before you do anything else.
Your website, business card, elevator pitch, email marketing, social media posts and speaking engagements... These all depend on knowing the answer to these questions about your ideal client. If you don’t have this dialed in, nothing else will work. You will find yourself attracting difficult clients. Clients who can’t invest in your services. Clients that you can’t help. Clients you don’t love. Spend the time and build this foundation. BEFORE you take any other action.2. Build Your Compass
Take the time to write out your top three business goals this quarter in detail. When will you accomplish it by, what metrics are you tracking it by and by what date will you finish it.
What are your five life priorities? Be specific. If family time is important, write what that means. Does that mean spending an hour a day with your family in the evenings and quality time over the weekend?
What are your values? What four values in your life define who you are? Knowing your values will help you refine what’s important about who you work with and spend time with.
You don't want to work with clients that are out of alignment with your values. You don’t want friends in your life that are out of alignment either as they will hold you back.
Once you finalize your compass, print it, post it and share it. Use it to make decisions about how you spend your time.
It will remind you of what you should say yes to and what you need to say no to. When we say yes to things that aren’t on our compass, it forces us to say no to things that are on there. And then we don’t make progress. We move backwards.
Use your compass to keep you clear. To make good decisions. To grow one percent closer to your long term goals every day.
3. Take Action
Right action for you today will be specific to where you have gaps in your life and business. Only you and your coach can answer this.
There’s nothing worse than overwhelm and not knowing what action to take next. If this is you, find a mentor or a coach to help guide you. To help you build your roadmap for success.
If you are struggling because you have too many ideas you could tackle in your business, consider this. What action on your list would have the biggest positive impact on your life and business today?
When you look at your compass, what are the steps you need to take to make those goals a reality? Which of those steps would have the biggest impact if you did it today?
Once you identify what that impactful next action is, commit to it and do it.
As Nike says, Just Do It.
Without action nothing changes. So take action that matches the size of your dreams.
Otherwise what are we doing?
Still Struggling?
That’s because we all need someone helping us find our blindspots. Pointing out those small tiny tweaks we need to make to be successful.
Identifying that next step that will be most impactful.
When we are in it, it’s hard to see the whole picture. Because we are breathing it and living it day after day.
We need someone external to take a step back. To look at what we are trying to accomplish. And provide ideas and strategies based on experience.
All it takes is finding someone you trust. Someone who is a few steps ahead of you. Someone who believes in you and your business. Someone who is committed to helping you succeed.
